A new
educational health website geared for kids called HealthRock™ was conceived
by a nationally known women's health expert to help parents and children
learn about health issues in a fun, educational way that leads to positive
behavior change.
HealthRock.com is the "baby" of Dr. Machelle
M. Seibel - a leading expert in women's health, a Professor of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at the University of Massachusetts, and Editor in Chief
of Sexuality, Reproduction and Menopause, a journal of the American Society
for Reproductive Medicine.
Combining his passion for writing and recording
music with education became his primary goal and in 2003 he created the
HealthRock™ CD series combining fun music with public health/wellness messages.
The new interactive website is multi-faceted and features:
" Songs geared for kids about nutrition,
hygiene, smoking, obesity, and much more. Selections include "It's Time
to Take a Bath," "I Am a Lot Like You," "The Heart is a Pump" and "I'm
Best at Being Me," among other upbeat songs designed to teach valuable
lessons to kids and help parents discuss difficult or important topics
with their kids.'
"Music downloads for .99, as well as downloadable
ring tones.
" A useful section geared to teachers, parents
and caregivers also offer short e-Books that can be downloaded and used
in conjunction with the topics covered on the HealthRock™ website.
" A fun, interactive game called "Help Skelly"
where kids can use their mouse to put together a dancing skeleton on a
skateboard.
" Engaging cartoons that add graphics to
songs such as "Phat Fat Rap," "Healthy Bones," and more.
