TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - With busy lifestyles and tight budgets, eating healthy can end up on the back burner.
When you hit the aisles, healthy options can be easier said than done.
Carrie shops for a family of 4, and she knows how difficult it can be.
"You have to be careful when you're shopping you know, not just grab everything you see or you'll have a cart full of stuff and you'll have too much," said Carrie Collier.
When Carrie heads to the store, she is looking for two things - convenient and healthy foods.
That's when the shopping gets tough.
"It's definitely important for it to be healthy," said Collier. "But it's also important for it to be convenient too, because in today's lifestlye it's so fast and everything."
Even more difficult, is to stay on a budget and a healthy eating plan.
Healthy foods come at a higher price, but Collier said it's worth it.
Fruits and vegetables are good for the body, but can be hard on the pocketbook.
Carrie says if you do your homework, everyone can afford the healthier choice.
"If you're careful you can usually make some good choices and have some good healthy things,"said Collier.
Gov. Mitch Daniels pitched an "In Shape Indiana Plan."
Hoosiers across the state threw out the junk food, and picked up salads and fresh fruit instead.
"Pick out a couple things out of those food groups that you think you can do, and try to implement them into your lifestyle," said Collier.
So switching to a healthy lifestyle, doesn't leave you with an empty pocketbook.
