Healthy eating
- is it important? My answer would be yes, it is.
In my opinion,
healthy eating is one of the keys to a good, healthy, happy life, and a
state of both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Recently in
the news there have been lots of stories on obesity, particularly childhood
obesity.
The problem
of this is really best tackled in the childhood years, while there's still
time to remedy the problem, and while you still can take in everything
you need to know.
Being obese
can't be nice, and can probably seriously damage your self-esteem, so I
personally can't see why anyone would want to keep the habit of eating
excessively.
But that's just
it, isn't it? Habit. Over-eating, or "binge eating" is an addiction, to
which the body builds up tolerance, making people already overweight not
realise exactly how much they are eating and ergo damaging their bodies.
So, just like
any other addictions, over-eating needs to be weaned out of a person's
system, which will, sadly, be hard.
At schools,
health and healthy eating is now one of the very most promoted things,
and the opportunities are in fact available.
Most people
would consider healthier options to food a waste; of money, and of time.
School dinners
are a great way to get cheap, healthy food, along with large fast food
chains that also now sell healthy food, which actually tastes good, against
all expectations.
School meals
are a way to help on the way to a fit and healthy lifestyle, along with
all the extra-curricular sporting activities that are promoted.
Give it a try,
and I bet you'll feel better for it.
