Nannies Want Health Insurance
Among the topics
at the Alliance of Professional Nanny Agencies convention this week will
be offering these domestic workers health insurance.
A survey of
286 nannies by GTM Associates finds while families are meeting their expectations
by offering paid vacation time and holidays they are missing the mark by
failing to provide adequate health and dental insurance.
The survey
finds 86 percent of the nannies value paid vacations and 80 percent are
receiving them; and 83 percent value paid holidays and 74 percent receive
them.
But 77 percent
said they valued medical insurance while only 39 percent receive it; the
gap is greater in dental insurance, with 42 percent of nannies valuing
it, but only 14 percent receiving it.
