You're so vain -- Men bow to Botox!
LONDON, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Vanity may no longer be isolated to fashion divas and ingenues as British men seeking everything from Botox injections to pectoral implants are on the rise.
Figures show men increasingly interested in removing wrinkles and visiting surgical fountains of youth, with Botox injections and plastic surgery increasingly common among men, the Sunday Independent reported Sunday.
In England, a Mintel report indicates men who would consider plastic surgery is up to 9 percent, compared to 23 percent for women. That mirrors U.S. figures, which show an 8 percent increase in male plastic surgery since 2000 and a doubling of the number of pectoral implants in the past year alone.
In England, the male skin care retail market is booming to the tune of nearly $95 million per year with a 13 percent growth forecast, the Independent said.
Some of the entertainment industry's leading men, including Simon Cowell, David Hasselhoff and Sylvester Stallone underwent Botox treatment, and John Schneider, made famous for his role as Bo Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard," revealed he had liposuction.
