Gum Disease Linked to Many Diseases

Bleeding gums may indicate more than a dental health problem: current research links gum disease to heart attacks, strokes, low birth weight babies, pancreatic cancer, type II diabetes, respiratory disease, and systemic inflammations.

The link between gum disease and potential health problems is highlighted by the fact that 85 percent of adults in the US have some form of gum problems, ranging from gingivitis with bad breath and red, puffy, or bleeding gums to severe periodontal disease leading to tooth loss. In fact, gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss.

Treating gum disease has been historically difficult with homecare remedies due to the fact that the bacteria that cause this disease are hidden and protected beneath the gum line and create pockets that are hard to penetrate.

Getting medications to the source of the infection is nearly impossible without professional help. Now, however, antimicrobial agents can be delivered to the source of the gum infection with a simple, affordable and comfortable system, known as the Perio Protect Method™.

This method delivers antimicrobial agents to the gum tissue and holds it there long enough to eradicate the bacteria causing the disease.

Dr. Randolph Sun in Lakeport CA has seen the benefits of Perio Protect® first hand. "I have had amazing results with the Perio Protect System! My personal patients have seen pocket reductions from 8 to 2mm."

An 8 mm pocket (the area around the tooth that gets infected) indicates that a patient has severe gum disease.

1-3 mm pockets are within normal range. Continual use of the non-invasive method that patients follow at home maintains healthy gum tissue and keeps the disease at bay.

With control over the bacteria in the gum tissue, Dr Sun's patients may also have a new way to protect their general health.
