The International
Diabetes Federation has come out with a new list of risk factors that can
lead to the onset of type 2 diabetes.
Again, obesity
is seen as a major factor. The group tells United Press International that
it's imperative that if young people fall into certain condition categories
they should immediately check with a physician for a consultation.
The report
shows that some 60 percent of people with diabetes have early signs of
the condition years before they see a doctor.
Additionally
the new numbers suggest that over 200 million people worldwide have a proclivity
to the condition.
People who
are at the greatest risk for type 2 diabetes are those who are overweight
for their age and height, inactive people, older Americans and people with
a family history of diabetes.
