Firefighters use kid's oxygen mask on cat
DUNDEE, Scotland, April 14 (UPI) -- Scottish firefighters used an oxygen mask to revive a cat overcome by smoke inhalation.
The cat was one of three pulled from a burning house in Dundee. A dog was also rescued.
"One of the cats was a bit poorly, so we administered oxygen, which we usually save for human beings," Fred Cochrane, a watch manager with the Tayside Fire Service, told The Scotsman. "We used a child-sized mask, which fits nicely over the cat's face."
The black and white cat regained consciousness. The owners, who were not at home when the fire broke out in their kitchen, took it to a vet for a checkup.
The house suffered significant smoke damage.
Cochrane described the firefighters' cat rescue as "quite unusual."
