ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- The search in Minnesota's Twin Cities metro area is still on for Brutus but the missing Chihuahua's owner got a new puppy while searching for her lost dog.
Juanita Polyak got her new long-haired Chihuahua puppy New Year's Day, a little more than a week after her 7-year-old Chihuahua, Brutus, was stolen along with her car from a drug store parking lot in Minnesota's capital city, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Wednesday.
Polyak's vehicle was found -- but not Brutus. A woman contacted Polyak's family about gifting the pup after seeing news reports concerning Brutus' disappearance.
Polyak was leery about getting another dog, said Barb Morrissey, the woman's niece.
"I told her, 'It doesn't take your love away from Brutus,'" Morrissey said to the Pioneer Press. "I told her, 'Honey, we'll never stop looking.'"
