Prescription Vitamin relieves Morning Sickness

Pregnancy is a time when women must make a special effort to obtain the nutrients they need, but the nausea and vomiting that afflict 50 percent to 90 percent of pregnant women often make this difficult.

To address this problem, Ther-RX Corporation, a St. Louis-based marketer of pharmaceutical products, has developed PremesisRX, a prescription vitamin and mineral supplement designed to reduce pregnancy-related nausea.

The supplement delivers 75 mg of vitamin B6
in a controlled-release form, plus 1 milligram of folic acid, which can prevent severe neurological defects such as spina bifida, and 200 milligrams of calcium.

Research cited by the company suggests that vitamin B6 may reduce pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting, and the calcium helps relieve indigestion.

Thus, PremesisRX accomplishes two goals: it eases nausea while helping pregnant women meet their nutritional requirements.
